New Environmental Protection Standard for Wood based Panel

 

The new environmental protection standard for national wood-based panels will be implemented from October 1, 2021. The Emission Limit of Formaldehyde from Wood based Panels and Their Products for Interior Decoration (GB18580-2017) was upgraded to the Emission Classification of Formaldehyde from Wood based Panels and Their Products (GB/T 39600-2021). In the past standards, the highest level of domestic panel testing was E1. This new national standard subdivides the formaldehyde emission of wood-based panels into several levels, including E1 (formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.124mg/m), E0 (formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.050mg/m) and ENF (formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.025mg/m). The formaldehyde emission of the highest level ENF is the most stringent formaldehyde standard in the world.

 

In recent years, there are many kinds of boards that are called zero formaldehyde and formaldehyde free on the market. This is a concept introduced by various businesses in order to win customers. There is no standard, which makes it difficult for consumers to tell the true from the false. It is often fooled by various "self determined" standards of merchants. Even before the release of the new national standard, there was no E0 level standard for domestic plates, and only E1 was the highest. Many small domestic plate manufacturers still used E0 level as a marketing means to let consumers choose. With the release of the new national standard, it is not difficult to find that the new national standard has made a more comprehensive standard for formaldehyde emission that consumers care about, and also provided a standard reference for the orderly development of the entire industry.

When choosing customized furniture, consumers in the future can first ask the merchants to show the formal new national standard test certificate to check whether the relevant plates meet the standards promoted by the merchants. When signing the purchase contract, they can write the relevant grades into the contract. They can also cut one piece when the goods are delivered home and directly send it for inspection and comparison. If there are problems, we can protect our rights reasonably according to law.
